IRT Reels IRT400

Taper

Our traditional weight-forward taper is perfect for the all-around angler. With its symmetrical front and rear tapers, along with the moderate-length belly, this head design will allow you to perform almost any presentation without needing multiple line set-ups. The shorter front and rear tapers allow you to shoot line when necessary and turn over streamers or indicator rigs. The evenly loaded, level belly section gives the angler control over the delicateness of their presentation for when the hatch is on, and dry flies are the weapon of choice.

Core

The Skyline series utilizes our zero-stretch GSP (gel-spun polyethylene) core for a very unique and ultra-sensitive fly fishing experience. The no-stretch properties of the GSP give the angler superior control while casting and create exceptional line speed for increased distance and quick re-positioning of your presentation. Additionally, the zero-stretch provides the angler with unmatched sensitivity. You will be able to feel even the smallest of strikes as well as the tiny ticks of your fly as it bumps through bottom structure of the waters. Hook-sets can be quick and effortless, even small strip-sets from 60 plus feet are effective, as no force is lost from the rod to the tip of your fly line.

The slight rigidity of the GSP makes it the perfect core material for those warm-weather fishing environments. It will help to maintain the fly line's original stiffness even in the extreme temperatures of the tropics. No more trying to cast a wet spaghetti noodle on those extra warm days.

Coating

The tried and true Skyline coating has delivered high performance and extreme durability for years. This clear and naturally buoyant polymer blend creates a stealthy and unobtrusive fly line. The only coloring present in our Skyline series is the light blue shade of the thin diameter GSP core showing through the clear top-coat. This results in a lighter shadow produced under the water as well as a reduction in light flash while overhead casting, as compared to thicker opaque colored lines, decreasing your chances of spooking fish.

The toughness of the Skyline coating produces a more durable, longer lasting fly line compared to most conventional PVC constructed fly lines. Its high abrasion resistance helps these lines hold up in some of the most brutal fishing conditions where rough coral, sharp rocks, and heavy surf can break down other lines in just a few outings.

Monic 101 Fly Line

FOUR SEASON HIGH PERFORMANCE

Taper

Our new All-Around taper was designed specifically with the river, stream, and creek angler in mind. The front taper will turn over small dries to medium sized streamers with ease. The extended rear taper provides excellent control while casting and allows the angler to easily pick-up and throw back without needing to strip in line. The medium length belly in combination with the long rear taper helps while roll-casting as well as with on-water mends from distance. We have also implemented a very slight taper into the belly portion of the head to more effectively load your rod and improve casting at close ranges.

Core

The 101 utilizes our supple and relaxed braided fiber core. The low to moderate stretch rating gives the angler some shock absorbing properties while using extra delicate tippet and the ability to relax or straighten the line with a light hand stretch, while still allowing for sensitivity and low effort hook-sets. The core alone, by nature, holds zero reel memory helping to create a fly line that remains relaxed from the heat of July to sub-freezing January temperatures.

Coating

Our 101 coating was designed to perform at a high level in all four seasons. The advanced coating blend will remain supple in colder temperatures while avoiding tack or stickiness during the warmer summer months. The plastics involved are 100% naturally buoyant, creating a high-floating fly line that will NOT begin to sink over time.

Unlike many other fly lines that tend to lose their slickness due to surface treatments or chemicals leeching out of the plastic, our 101 coating utilizes our proprietary STS slickness technology that has been expertly formulated and uniformly mixed within the plastic blend. This results in an extremely low friction surface that will shoot through rod guides like a dream but will NOT dissipate or migrate out of the plastic during the life of the line. This means, with occasional cleaning, your line will cast the same seasons later as it did right out of the package.

 As with all Monic fly lines, the 101 boasts superb durability. The non-PVC coating will NOT leech chemicals, absorb water, dry-rot, or begin to break down merely from regular use. You should expect 2-3 times the lifespan compared to a traditional PVC based fly line.

This creates an exceptionally clear and stealthy line that holds far less coil than fly lines based on traditional nylon monofilament. Our MoniCORE has moderate to low stretch, allowing the angler to easily relax or straighten the fly line while also providing shock absorbing properties and consistent tension for landing those extra large species. MonicCORE's versatility allows you to take the stealthy covert nature of the Henley Clear from the flats in the tropics to the chilly mountain creeks and rivers.  

Coating

Our Henley Clear series coating provides the angler with the ultimate stealth presentation fly line. The Phantom Tip version provides the best of both worlds, with a 15 foot clear stealth tip (from front loop to mid belly), while the remainder of the line is a bright green color making it easier to track the line in the air and on top of the water to give the angler a reference point for their fly. Most fish species, due to how their bodies are constructed as well as their feeding patterns, generally focus their eyes forward and up toward the surface of the water. The Henley series provides anglers with the ultimate weapon for the clearest waters and the spookiest fish on the planet. Using the same technology as our Henley Clear floating line, now with a slow sink rate of 1-2 in/s, for when you need to get your fly slightly deeper. The head has been designed with density compensation, meaning as you move up the front taper and into the belly, the line becomes gradually less dense. This puts the very tip of your fly line the deepest in the water column, improving strike detection, and keeping the belly portion out of the fishing zone.
